Oops..I did it again!

Oopsidaisi is a quality Australian made label which
recently got a mention in our beloved Frankie Magazine.

Despite them not being Locals we have bent/broken our own rules because each item is handmade, and they use Vintage Fabrics & Trims, and use Organic where possible.

And because we saw them in Frankie Magazine!

We now stock Oopsidaisi Lip Balms-RRP just $7.00

Fabric covered button hair elastics-RRP $4.95.
We are pretty easily swayed by Frankie Magazine.

UPDATE! Samantha from OopsiDaisi advises me she is in fact a Local as most of her family reside in Newie!

and conclude at the Croatian Bowling Club.

There is going to be lucky door prizes - one of which was donated by Blackbird Corner to support this important event!

You could win the above prize pack so remember to buy a ticket!!
(High Tea with Mrs Woo + Ramjet from Darby Street have also contributed scrumptious prizes!!)
The Blackbirds are all proud Feminists & do not believe Feminism is a dirty word.
A lifetime ago I was personally a victim of Domestic Violence so this issue is one very close to my heart.
Am very glad that Astrid asked for Blackbird to contribute.

My Place & Yours - Bedside

The gorgeous Ladies from & have set us mere mortal Bloggers a project.
And I quote:
"It's time for 'My Place And Yours'. It goes like this. The Theme Queen chooses a theme and we all post an image to suit (maybe even some words, if we feel so inclined!) Feel like playing along? Go on! To see what it's all about, you can find last week's episode here.
This week's Theme Queen is the ace
Pottymouthmama. This week's theme is 'Bedside'. Well chosen PMM!"
So this is a photo of what I see just beside my bed, as I drift off to sleep with To Do Lists running around & around my head.
It is my Kokeshi Doll collection. These dolls were given to me by the people who love & support me in my every endeavour.
Some are from my Sean; some from my sister Jen; some from dear friends Mr B & Ms K and one is from my beloved MIL Carole.
So, as I drift off to sleep each night, (much earlier than anyone reading this I'll bet!) I feel loved and then allow myself to drift off - to dream of ticking things off of my To Do Lists!
No seriously! I am compulsive even in my sleep - and often more productive/imaginative in my dreams!
Also in the shot is a couple of the books I've read recently...'The curious incident of the dog in the night-time' being one I've read again & again.
I really recommend it actually but you cannot borrow my copy! Sorry!
Anyways pop over to Pip & Lexi's Blogs & check out their
'My Place & Yours - Bedside.'
I'm sure theirs are more interesting by far LOL!
And PottyMouthMama's rant about SUVs is priceless!
I couldn't agree more with her opinion if I'd written it myself!

Parting is such sweet sorrow....

The lovely Leanne from ANYA came in on Saturday & dropped off some of her delightful handmade stuffed toys!!
This time she brought us some of her aptly named "Cuddle Owls" and also something new - she calls them "Polly Dolls" - I call them "the dolls I want to keep!"
This is the Polly Dolly I do not want to sell at all ever!

This is the Polly that sold within 1 1/2 hours of being in stock!

And this is the other Polly Dolly I want to keep!
These one-off toys are created with love & great attention to detail & are really scrumptious gift ideas
- particularly for newborns!
Leanne only brings in a few of her creations each month & they have proven to be very fast sellers - maybe because if you pick one up you are compulsed to give it a quick hug.
Once you've hugged it it is virtually impossible to not fall in love with it & take it home!
I really really adore these!
Can you tell?
Oh! And they're only RRP $42 each!!

Bird in The Hand.

Well there is some special reading in the Newcastle Herald today!
If you turn to page 8 of H2 today you'll find the spunky & inspiring Ms Pow talking all about her passion for Zines.
You remember I've told you about her in a previous Blog.
If you live too far from Newie to get into her shop physically then get on over to and order some exquisite zines NOW!
It is so nice to see our Herald showing support to creative & innovative Novocastrians! Keep it up I say!
(Hey, just by the way, did you know you are welcome to order some of our items online? Just email us with your request & we'll let you know what to do from there! )

Mashine Machine!

Oh, we also went to the Tender Centre at Hamilton North on Saturday! One of my favourite things to do is to put ludicrously low bids on gorgeous items!!
It drives Sean Prawn completely NUTS!!!
He walks around trying to distract me from bidding on silly things! We did buy the superb wooden library drawers that now display Anorak cards there! And our counter....and Placcy Stag Barometers...and our several cuckoo clocks....and now....... a "receipt mashine" (their spelling not mine!!)
Check it out! How silly is this!?!?!

I have no practical use for this item whatsover - which is why I adore it so!!!

You'll spot it in a window display very soon I'd say!!

Forced relaxation

Saturdays are usually Tee Printing day for Anorak at our place.
Thanks to an unanticipated delay in the delivery of new blank Tees, Saturday was a forced relaxation day!
We even sat in Civic Park for a pleasant nature
appreciation moment!
I have no idea what type of bird this was but it wanted some
of Sean Prawn's hair!!
Maybe to decorate it's nest? La-di-da!!!

It was a much needed day of chilling out & just....being!
We knew Jen had things in hand in the store!
Thanks Jen! xxx
